April, 1975. The helicopter carrying the last Americans in Vietnam lifts off the embassy rood in Saigon, and a quagmire that cost 50,000 lives is over. We are familiar with the American perspective on the war, but what about the Vietnamese? The "American" war touched the lives of every man, woman and child in the county. This one-hour documentary brings the last 25 years in Vietnam alive through the perspective of six Vietnamese whose lives, one defined by war, now personalize the struggle of a country entering a new millennium at peace. Filmed in and around one of Asia's most colorful and storied cities, the film blends individual narratives with archival footage and photographs woven together with a storyteller's cadence.
