Native Seeds: Supplying Restoration is a nine-part video series that explores the native seed supply chain in the western United States. Filmed over four seasons, this series weaves together footage of seed collectors, farmers, researchers, and land managers working to scale up the supply of native seeds to meet the growing restoration demand. We see the staggering scale of damage to vast landscapes and meet tenacious people who are finding creative, scrappy solutions to restore ecosystems.
Brady Holden
Brady Holden is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and cinematographer. He began Holden Films in 2016 and specializes in creating videos for nonprofits, environmental organizations and state and federal agencies, including The Nature Conservancy, Society for Ecological Restoration, Columbia Land Trust, The Land Trust Alliance, Marriott International, Wild Salmon Center, Coalition of Oregon Land Trusts, College Possible Oregon and Friends of the Columbia Gorge. Brady’s work has also appeared on PBS FRONTLINE, CNN’s Parts Unknown with Anthony Bourdain, NPR, Outside Magazine, Bloomberg and HGTV, as well as in National Park Service visitor centers and museums. When he isn’t behind the camera, he’s directing the visual style, editing videos and collaborating with clients and contractors. Brady is also a certified drone pilot.
McKenna Asakawa
McKenna is a director, producer, writer and editor who specializes in telling human stories about science. She draws on her background in engaging communities in large-scale infrastructure projects, education in sociology and extensive experience leading interviews to translate technical topics into rigorously researched, clear and people-centered narratives.
McKenna’s work has appeared in public communications for nonprofits, government agencies, cities, utilities and companies around the globe, including Society for Ecological Restoration, The Nature Conservancy, HDR Engineering, Hawaiian Electric, Port of Longview, Seattle Public Utilities, Sound Transit, Wild Salmon Center, City of Sacramento, City of Fairfax, Marriott International, Oregon Department of Transportation (DOT), Florida DOT and Montana DOT.
