A visual poem exploring the fate of the Earth and her children...

A rare film in Peru's mother language Quechua, the award-winning documentary “Eyes of the Journey” is a feature-length visual poem exploring the fate of the Earth and her children.

The film narrates the journey of the “paq’o” (healer) Hipólito Peralta Ccama through different parts of the Peruvian sierra, attending to the call of the people and nature. Otero uses this journey to compose a complex metaphor of the human condition from the landscapes of the Andean world and its powerful imagery, in a documentary that stretches the limits of the genre to lead to what might be considered an offering or petition to life.

About the filmmaker
Rodrigo Otero Heraud has followed the way of an author in filmmaking. His work is based on what he considers transcendental matters, such as the ancient knowledge of traditional peoples and different approaches to spirituality and consciousness. To him, filmmaking is about generating spiritual nourishment, therefore they are at the same time creative works and a form of service. His filmmaking is intimate, sensitive, and with a cinematographic language of its own. He directs, shoots, and edits in order to print a personal seal on his works.
