Born in 1987 in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. Graduated from the Department of Dance at Japan Women’s College of Physical Education and completed her master’s degree at Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School of Film and New Media. She creates films with the intention of making cinema itself “dance,” focusing on the senses and emotions evoked by seeing and listening. She also works as a music video director, choreographer, and performer.
Her notable films include Shari (official selection, Rotterdam International Film Festival 2022), Grand Bouquet(invited to the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival 2019), and Hottamaru Days (winner of the New Face Award, Entertainment Division, Japan Media Arts Festival). She choreographed and appeared in the music video for Kenshi Yonezu’ “Lemon“.
